Important changes to BUPA's list of Hospitals 15/05/2013
We wanted to let you know about some necessary steps that BUPA have taken, as a responsible commissioner of healthcare, to ensure the safety of its members.
Following enforcement action by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) about standards at a number of hospitals, BUPA are removing these hospitals from their recognised hospitals list with immediate effect, until they have evidence to confirm that the CQC are satisfied the issues have been addressed.
The hospitals, which they have removed, are:
- Basildon University Hospital, Essex
- Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Amersham Hospital, Buckinghamshire
- Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex
- Kettering Hospital, Northamptonshire
BUPA want to reassure you that patient welfare is always their first priority and they have stopped new pre-authorisations at these hospitals. They will be contacting the group secretaries of all groups affected to make them aware of the steps they have taken, and over the next few days they will be contacting any members who are booked in for treatment to discuss the options available to them.
BUPA have also pulled together a Q&A document to help answer any questions you may have and this is attached. If you have any further questions please contact us.
We will keep you updated with any developments.
